Asprin for heart attacks, also how to recognize heart attack

I received this via an email forward. Yesterday, I also discussed with a pharmacist about the use of aspirin (those aspirin that dissolve in the mouth) and she confirmed that what is recommended below about keeping 2 aspirin beside the bed is a good measure to guard against heart attack. The email says to forward to as many people as possible and the easiest way to do that is to publish it in this blog. This information is useful and you should help pass the message around. A cardiologist estimated that if you tell 10 people about this, 1 life may be saved.

In fact, I think it is so good advice that I will from now on carry 2 aspirin with me everywhere I go. Even if I myself do not have to use it, it may happen that someone may suddenly need it urgently:

New information re: heart attacks

TO ALL AGES. EVEN THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE NOW NEARING ONLY 50!!
I HAD NO IDEA YOU SHOULD NOT LIE DOWN.

Why keep aspirin by your bedside?

About Heart Attacks

There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

Note: There may be no pain in the chest during a heart attack.

The majority of people (about 60%) who had an heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water..

CALL 911

Do NOT lie down.

Unlock the front door.

Afterwards:

- phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by

- say "heart attack!"

- say that you have taken 2 aspirins.

- take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and....

~ Do NOT lie down ~

A Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life can be saved!

I have already shared the information -- What about you?

A(H1N1) Swine flu herbal treatment

A Beijing Ditan Hospital spokesman have found that Chinese herbs can effectively treat Influenza A(H1N1). According to Wang Yuguang, the spokesman for Ditan Hospital, this traditional Chinese herbal treatment is effective, safe with no after effects, involves a shorter recover period and is cheaper as compared to Tamiflu. In addition, the doctors can use different combination of herbs for A(H1N1) patients with different health conditions.

Ditan Hospital first started treating patients with A(H1N1) virus with traditional Chinese herbal treatment together with Tamiflu. When they found it effective, they started treating swine flu patients with Chinese herbs alone.

Alzheimer's disease and medical alert

Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer's disease (AD) also called Senile Dementia of the Alzheimer Type (SDAT) or just Alzheimer's, is an incurable, degenerative and terminal disease which normally strike the elderly ove 65 years and is accompanied by memory loss and other symptoms. A brain scan will reveal changes in the brain like those illustrated in the image below:

Caring for Alzheimer's patient

Caring for an Alzheimer's patient can be very challenging, especially if you cannot be with him 24/7. An Alzheimer's patient can wander off and get lost. Fortunately there is modern technology offering a solution - medical alert which can help with monitoring 24/7. If the Alzheimer's patient wander off and get lost, the medical alert based on GPS (Global Positioning System) can help locate the patient. There is also the Fall Alert where if the patient suffers a fall, the monitoring center will be alerted and help can be sent on the way.

Swearing expletives pain killer

A study by researchers at Keele University School of Psychology have come to a conclusion swearing expletives can cause swearer to be more pain tolerant. The researchers subjected 64 volunteers to soaking their hand in a tub of freezing water and told to hold it there as long as possible, once while swearing expletives of their own choice and a second time uttering common words. It was found that the volunteers on the average volunteers could tolerate the pain from submerging their hand in ice cold water for almost 2 minutes while swearing as compared with only one minute 15 seconds when repeating commonplace words.

PEDF cause obesity ill health

Silhouettes representing healthy, overweight, ...Image via Wikipedia

Australian and US researchers seem to have pinpointed the factor of ill health associated with obesity based on study of obese mice. The factor is protein PEDF (pigment epithelium-derived factor) which is secreted by fat cells (adipocytes). Obese people have more fat cells which in turn secrete more PEDF, increasing PEDF concentration in blood and in other tissues such as the muscles and the liver. This protein signals other body tissues triggering insulin resistance in the tissues thus leading to diabetes.

Increased PEDF levels also caused increased release of fats into the bloodstream which in turn lead to cardiovascular diseases such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, stroke and heart attacks.

When researchers inject PEDF into lean mice, it was found that they developed insulin resistance plus inflammation in muscles and liver. Increased PEDF levels also raise fat levels in blood in the long term which in turn in absorbed into muscles and liver thus raising insulin resistance risks further.

A further proof that PEDF is the factor causing ill health came from treating obese mice to neutralize PEDF. When that is done, the obese mice become more sensitive to insulin (decreased insulin resistance) thus reducing diabetes risks. The blood fats level was also reduced when the obese mice were treated to neutralise PEDF.

Strategy to reduce salt consumption and blood pressure

The doctor has taken me off the status of pre-hypertension. However, I still need to control salt intake to control the blood pressure.

I am a widower plus am too lazy to cook myself. I take my normal meal once a day in a restaurant where I do not have control over how much salt be in my daily meal, normally in the mid-morning. I then take only fruits in the afternoon and sometimes soy milk for the protein. Both fruits and soy bean milk has no or very negligible salt. That is how I reduce my salt consumption

Chronic water intoxification leading to blindness

Too much of even very good thing can be bad, even fatal. This is true for water as what this unfortunate Taiwanese lady found out. She drank 7 litres of water a day to detoxify her body and reduce her blood pressure for 3 months. At the end of three months she fainted and when she regained consciousness, she found that she is blind.

The doctor who treated her, Dr. Jiang Shou Shan said that she suffered water intoxification and hyponatremia (lack of sodium or natrium). This lead to excess water being absorbed into her body cells and her brain cells swelled leading to increased pressure in her brain. The increased pressure caused bleeding in her occipital lobe which is the visual processing center of the brain (see drawing below):

Drawing showing excess water consumption leading to damaged visual cortex

Symptoms of water intoxification includes headache, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, frequent urination and mental disorientation.

Ultrasound therapy for prostate cancer

Researchers from the University College and Princess Grace hospitals in London says that an experimental therapy using ultrasound waves called High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) shows promises for treating early stage prostate cancer.

The researchers used HIFU on 172 men with not only high rates of success, but also few side effects and quick discharge from hospital being discharged only five hours after treatment. A year later, 92% did not show any relapse (recurrence of prostate cancer). A further benefits is out of the 172 men, none had bowel problems, only 1 men suffered incontinence and only 33% had impotence.

The researchers plan to test HIFU on other form of cancers.

Relationship between alcohol consumption and hospitalization

According a a report published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, there is a relationship between alcohol drinking and hospitalization. The researchers from various universities in Glasgow and Bristol studied 5,772 Scottish men started from early 1970s for up to 35 years and found that men who drank eight to fourteen units (equivalent to 4 pints of beer or eight shots of spirits or eight small glasses of wine) were more likely to be hospitalized as compared to those who don't drink or drink less. The risks are even higher for those consuming between 14 and 21 units. They found a correlation between alcohol consumption with risks of hospitalization and length of stay increasing with increasing alcohol consumption.
